“ Great food choices and great service. Classic soul food was cooked perfect and the portions were great. All of the soul food classics, as well as sides. Greens were great, yams on point, and Ox Tails were tender and flavorful. Gotta try some dessert next time. Don't miss this Oakland staple. ”
“ The smothered chicken was cooked to perfection, with tender and juicy meat that practically melted in my mouth. The rich and savory gravy that accompanied it added an extra layer of depth and made each bite even more satisfying. The dressing was delicious. It had the perfect balance of flavors, with a hint of herbs and spices that complemented the chicken and gravy perfectly. And let's not forget about the collard greens. They were cooked just right. The seasoning was spot-on, enhancing the natural flavors of the greens without overpowering them. Overall, this meal was a true culinary delight. The combination of smothered chicken, dressing with gravy, and collard greens created a harmonious symphony of flavors that left me craving for more. I could've used a little less gravy but still very satisfying. If you're looking for a filling and comforting meal, I highly recommend giving this dish a try. You won't be disappointed! ”
“ The food and portions were good, service was awesome. I've eaten here and have done to go orders. It can get very busy so I recommend going early in the day. Nicely decorated. ”
“ I have been enjoying Touch of Soul for several years, at the former San Pablo location. I finally made it to Touch of Soul at the new(ish) location on Adeline in Emeryville. It was excellent! The food was spot on with all dishes cooked with aplomb. It seemed better than ever. Had the 1/2 fried chicken and it is always sooo good. They do not rely on the batter to make it tasty as too many others do. Their chicken is battened perfectly but it is not the only gem. Skin is always super crispy and the meat cooked to perfection. Big flavor, juicy meat, and really not greasy. My sides were the mac, brussel sprouts and dressing with gravy. Last night the dressing was the stand out. They make it with noticeable sweetness which is the best match with their rich and savory gravy. My only issue with TOS (a personal pet peeve) is they never returned to real plates and actual silverware. All you can get even for dine-in are plastic utensils. However This is meaningless when the food is just that dam good TOS has always been a delightful group of people and that continues to be the case. They are always so kind and welcoming. I will go eat at places where staff treats me like crap if the food is real good. But at TOS this is never an issue. Just wonderful to eat outstanding fare while feeling like you are with family. (Well, at least with the parts of the family that are chilI, not the ones that are all fucked up and crazy.) TOS FTW!! ”
“ Food and the service plus courteous employee demeanor and great atmosphere. Highly recommend anyone looking for great tasting food, go check it out. Min ”
“ This location offers plenty of street parking, making it convenient to visit. The atmosphere is quaint, with enough space between tables to enjoy a private conversation. While the music was on the louder side, it was great and added to the lively vibe. The soul food was delicious and freshly made to order, so be prepared for a bit of a wait after placing your order. The staff was knowledgeable about the menu and offered great recommendations on popular dishes. The seafood was fresh and perfectly cooked. I also had a cocktail, which, though served in a non-traditional glass, was delicious. If I'm ever in the area again, I'd definitely return! ”
